Vitamin B5 plays an important role in the processing of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. It contributes to the energy supply. Shortage

Because vitamin B5 is present in many foods, a shortage of vitamin B5 occurs only in case of severe malnutrition. People suffering from depression may also have to deal with a shortage of this vitamin.


Overdose

Adverse effects due to excessive intake of vitamin B5 are very rare. Very high doses may cause diarrhea.
